Early Phase Clinical Development

The Medpace Clinical Pharmacology Unit (CPU) is dedicated to the conduct of early-phase clinical pharmacology studies in normal healthy volunteers, special populations, and patient populations over a spectrum of diseases including cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Medpace CPU is a fully owned subsidiary of Medpace, Inc. An expanded state-of-the-art facility opened in July 2012 on the Medpace clinical research campus which is centrally located in Cincinnati, Ohio, approximately 20 miles from the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Comprehensive Phase I services

As a full-service CRO, Medpace offers a suite of Phase I services through its CPU, Bioanalytical lab, consulting, and regulatory capabilities. Medpace's investment in early phase research involves cutting edge technology, instrumentation, and process, developed by 20 years in clinical research, led by therapeutic experts. Medpace's dedicated clinical research campus is home to the CRO, the CPU as well as these core subsidiaries:

The CPU has a dedicated staff for the recruitment and screening of study subjects. We continuously develop and nurture our volunteer database of active potential study subjects for multiple types of clinical trials.

The CPU utilizes the following facility equipment:

  • Mortara 12-lead ECG machines
  • Braun IV Infusion Pumps
  • Welch Allyn Spot Vital Sign machines capable of pulse oximetry measurements
  • Fully-stocked emergency crash carts with Zoll M Series defibrillator and external pacing device
  • Master clocks with synchronization to the official atomic time
  • Generator back-up for continual power supply
  • Laboratory processing and storage area with refrigerated centrifuges and -20°C/-70°C freezers

Specialized diagnostic equipment

  • Mortara Surveyor Telemetry Central System with 32 telemetry channels
  • Continuous glucose monitoring systems (Medtronic MiniMed CGMS)
  • Platelet Aggregometers
  • YSI STAT Plus Glucose Analyzer

  • Seimens Acusan Sequoia 512 Ultrasound machines
