Medpace Continues to Expand its Expertise in Neuroscience-focused Clinical Development
Sankalp Gokhale MD, Joins Medpace as Medical Director
CINCINNATI, OH — (February 8, 2018) – Medpace (MEDP), a scientifically-driven, global full-service clinical research organization (CRO), announced that Sankalp Gokhale, MD has joined Medpace as Medical Director of Medical Affairs. Dr. Gokhale is an experienced neurologist with a strong background in vascular neurology and neurocritical care. With the addition of Dr. Gokhale, Medpace further strengthens its capabilities in clinical development across neurological indications for both drug and medical devices.
About Sankalp Gokhale, MD
Dr. Sankalp Gokhale earned his medical degree from the Seth G.S. Medical College in Mumbai India and completed residencies in internal medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi and at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He then completed a neurology residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Boston Children’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School and a fellowship in neurocritical care from Duke University Hospital. He is about to graduate (June 2018) from an MBA program at the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and holds a neurocritical care certification from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.
Prior to joining Medpace, he held a variety of leadership positions in various academic institutions. He served as an Assistant Professor at the UT Southwestern Medical Center where he was the Principal Investigator (PI) in translational stroke and acute brain injury recovery studies. His research has been successfully funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the American Heart Association (AHA) as well as private foundations. He then transitioned to the University of Arizona where he was the Assistant Professor of Neurology and Anesthesiology and the Director of the Neurocritical Care Unit at Banner – University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. He spearheaded the expansion of the Neurocritical Care Unit and established a strong Neurocritical Care referral service line. He was actively involved in the Quality and Performance Metrics improvement program for the Inpatient Neurology (Stroke, General Neurology and Neurocritical Care) service line. He has published more than 40 articles in international journals, presented at numerous international meetings and serves as an expert reviewer for the top journals in the field of stroke and neurocritical care. He served on National Research Committee at the Neurocritical Care Society from 2015-2017.
