Faisal Sheikh, MBBS, MRCP Gastro – Medical Director
Dr. Faisal Sheikh is an accredited gastroenterologist who has attained board-equivalent certification (CCT) in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He has 15 years of diverse clinical experience including clinical and research experience in hepatology acquired as a research fellow at the Institute of Liver and Digestive Health, Royal Free Hospital where he also acted as an investigator in a number of clinical trials. Prior to joining Medpace, he was a medical affairs physician at a large pharmaceutical organization where he focused on novel gastrointestinal therapies including for inflammatory bowel disease.
Dr. Sheikh received his medical degree from King’s College London where he also completed an intercalated BSc in Human Genetics. He completed his training and residency working at various hospitals throughout London and the surrounding areas.
Nicola Owen, PhD, MBBS, MRCP Gastro – Medical Director
Dr. Nicola Owen is an accredited Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, having attained board-equivalent certification (CCT) in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Internal Medicine in 2021. She has 19 years of clinical experience with over 11 years of specialist experience in Hepatology and Gastroenterology. Prior to joining Medpace, Dr. Owen served as a Consultant Hepatologist at King’s College Hospital, a world-renowned specialist liver care center. She was a principal investigator and investigator in a diverse portfolio of clinical trials. As the lead of the Advanced Chronic Liver Disease Service, she managed patients with advanced liver disease of all etiologies, receiving complex referrals from across the United Kingdom.
Dr. Owen received her medical degree from Imperial College, London, where she also completed an intercalated BSc in Pharmacology and Toxicology. She later completed a PhD at the University of Cambridge in Hepatology that focused on current and experimental therapies in cirrhotic portal hypertension.
